“A seriously ill young boy from the Central West, whose only dream was to visit Australia Zoo in Queensland. His family flies to the Gold Coast, they spend a week visiting theme parks and they are chauffeur driven to the zoo to spend a day with the animals.”
That was Make- A- Wish Dubbo’s latest wish come true.
Make-A-Wish Dubbo is part of an international organisation that grants wishes to enrich the human experience of children and young people with life threatening medical conditions. Funds are raised through raffles, BBQs and major events such as Fashion Parades, Trivia and Bowls Nights and through very generous donations from business houses such as EMS.
Make-A-Wish could not exist without volunteers and the Dubbo group consists of a dedicated band of people from all walks of life. Their only reward is the smiles on the faces and the joy in the lives of those unfortunate children when their wishes are granted. New volunteers are always welcome. If you want to bring some happiness into the lives of these children then Make-A-Wish might be the charity for you – see www.makeawish.org.au for more information.
